What is the metal used in all your inexpensive fashion jewelry items? And
how do we maintain them?
The metal used is an alloy of Silver and Copper (just like copper is
mixed with 24K pure gold). They are then 22K gold
electro-plated.
It is recommended not to wet these electro-plated jewelries in water since
they may tarnish sometimes. To be on the safer side, it is suggested
to apply a very thin coating of clear (transparent) nail polish coating
only on the gold plated areas (not on the gem stones). This coating
may be required only if this jewelry would be worn in hot countries were
excessive sweating could pose a problem. If you would were this as a
party wear (not as a daily wear like 22K or 18K gold items), then these
designs stay well for many many years. Also, these designs are made
in such a way that the natural gem stones can be removed from their bases
and could be re-set in real gold jewelry. |
